Mediterranean market context

Survey, sea trial, and handover

We recommend scheduling a sea trial in settled weather and commissioning an independent survey before contract signing. Confirm mooring arrangements, insurance transferability, and any seasonal lift or antifouling work due within twelve months. Sellers on MarineDirect can often coordinate local berthing for inspections without obligating you to travel before basic questions are answered.

Ownership and registration

Registration path depends on buyer residency and intended flag state. European buyers frequently keep vessels within EU VAT-paid status when cruising seasonally; non-EU buyers should validate import duties and temporary admission rules with a marine lawyer. Request the seller's bill of sale chain, lien search results, and equipment inventory signed at handover.
